Topshop Celebrity Dress Auction - 16th March!
In December 2009, Topshop launched the ‘Dress Me Up’ charity dress hire project in aid of Age Concern and Help the Aged. Topshop’s fabulous circle of fashion friends dug deep in their wardrobes and donated a dress, which shoppers could then hire over the festive period. On 16th March the dresses are due to be auctioned by Kerry Taylor Auctions, with all proceeds going to the chosen charities.
Celebrites that have kindly donated to the project include Kate Moss, who donated a beautiful beaded Lanvin party dress, and Freida Pinto, who gave a pale yellow Burberry Prorsum dress. Scarlett Johansson’s Nanette Lepore animal print minidress will be available to buy, alongside a full length floral gown by Dolce & Gabbana from Peaches Geldof and a midnight blue evening dress by Australian designer Jayson Brundson from Dita Von Teese. Bidders will also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy one of Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud’s bespoke stage costumes from the band’s recent tour.
Kerry Taylor Auctions, the leading specialist auctioneer of haute couture and vintage fashion, will be organising this special auction. In addition to bidding in person, online bids will also be taken on the auction site invaluable.com from 2nd March, so there’s no need to be in London to be able to take advantage of the sale.
Sophie Dahl comments: “I am thrilled to support Age Concern and Help the Aged through Topshop's ‘Dress Me Up’ hire project and auction. What a good cause to put a lovely frock on for. The dress I donated is one I love, a proper party dress that deserves an outing."
Peaches Geldof is also pleased to be able to support the charity auction: “This dress was a gift from my good friends Dolce & Gabbana. It was beautifully made and means a lot to me. I wore it in Cannes and had lots of fun; I hope the next person who owns it does too.”
