Hot off the press...Hire a real Celeb dress for just £40 at Topshop!

Oh yes ladies, i've been dying to tell you about this, but had to hold off until today.....

Exclusive to the Oxford Circus flagship store, Topshop is offering the once in a lifetime chance for customers to take a walk through the wardrobes of its fabulous circle of fashion friends. With one-off pieces donated by the crème of the fashion and celebrity world, customers will have the chance to hire their dream designer dress for December’s forthcoming Christmas parties.
You will be able to browse the selection of garments and try things on for size between 26th November and 6th December, before the hire period which runs 7th – 23rd December. Dresses will be available to hire for one day, and following the dress hire period there will be the opportunity to enter a silent bid and be the life-long owner of your desired dress when they are auctioned. Dress hire costs just £40.

Most importantly, all of the hire fee and proceeds from the auction will go to Topshop’s chosen charities Age Concern and Help the Aged.
Celebrites that have kindly donated to the project include Kate Moss, who donated a beautiful beaded Lanvin party dress, and Freida Pinto, who gave a pale yellow Burberry Prorsum dress. Scarlett Johansson’s Nanette Lepore animal print minidress will be available for hire, alongside a full length floral gown by Dolce & Gabbana from Peaches Geldof and a midnight blue evening dress by Australian designer Jayson Brundson from Dita Von Teese. Customers will also have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to wear one of Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud’s bespoke stage costumes from the band’s recent tour.

Not only will the dresses be the main talking point of the evening, you will not risk running into anyone in the same inimitable piece.

Sophie Dahl comments: “I am thrilled to support Help the Aged and Age Concern through Topshop's Christmas ‘Dress Me Up’ initiative. What a good cause to put a lovely frock on for. The dress I donated is one I love, a proper party dress that deserves an outing."

Peaches Geldof is also thrilled to be able to support the campaign: “This dress was a gift from my good friends Dolce & Gabbana. It was beautifully made and means a lot to me. I wore it in Cannes and had lots of fun; I hope the next person who hires it does too. I think dress hire for charity is a great idea and Age Concern and Help The Aged are worthwhile causes. I am glad to be able to give something back to the third generation.”
Emma Cook, designer, comments: “Having worked with Topshop for so long, we didn’t think twice about donating our dress. It’s such a great cause, especially at this time of year. The combination of being able to help support Age Concern & Help The Aged and the chance for someone to wear our dress that wouldn't ordinarily be able to afford to, is such a fantastic concept.”

The dress left was donated by Oliva Palermo and the funky leopard print one was donated by Scarlett Johansson.

Perfect party dresses from Miss Selfridge!

Ahh... good old Miss Selfridge, i remember the day that i bought my first real party dress, i was 16 and it was from Miss Selfridge on Oxford Street, i had my mum with me for guidance, and i bought an absolutely gorgeous LBD with spaghetti straps and ruffles at bust, it was so perfect and totally timeless, and i was utterly devastated the day that it happened to get mixed up amongst the other laundry and got shrunk in the wash, so much so that it would have been adequate for a 10 year old girl. i still pine for my beloved Miss Selfridge dress, but stepping back into the present, they have, as usual got a great selection of party dresses this season.

Here are my two favourites of the moment, this very fairy like dress with a touch of 80's reminds me of something that Carrie Bradshaw would wear and is real girly little number, and this sequined dress, is an of the moment trend focused piece, and is even more fabulous in the flesh (or should that be cloth) as i was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the Arcadia Press preview back in August.

Trend focus - Velvet

Yes ladies, Velvet is well and truely back on the fashion radar, who'd have thought it!

And it was only recently that my good friend Michelle was in fits of laughter as she recalled, the little purple velvet dress that i used to wear out clubbing back in 1995! If only i had of held on to it!

So anyway girl, velvet is back and the velvet body con dress is key this season, just take a look at these dresses...

This black Velvet LBD is £25 from ASOS and this 'look at me' red number is also £25 from http://www.boohoo.com/ and is a great colour for the festive season!

Plus it's a fabric that's going to kind of keep you warm girls, but just make sure that you wear your body shaping tights or knickers under these figure hugging babies, girls!

Headbands are so in at the moment ladies, which is great news for those bad hair days. From thin to wide and plain, to huge statement styles, hairbands are a great and cheap way to add and bit of sparkle to your outfit.

I love this peacock one from Dorothy Perkins, and it's only £10. Just think how this would brighten up a plain black jumper or t-shirt!

Check out my guest blog post about the 'Office Xmas Party' on the new Dorothy Perkins style blog at http://www.yourstylesociety.com/?p=390#more-390

The current theme on Style Society is all about 'Going out and staying out' which is all about looking at what makes a great night out for women across the globe, so it's an interesting and funny read. They also have behind the scenes video's at Dorothy Perkins and some great competetions, plus somemore guest post's from myself coming up over the next few months, so be sure to add it to your bookmarks!

Bring out your inner animal this party season!

Animal Print is really big again this season girls, and Giraffe print is a much classier alternative to usual leopard print, which can also be classy but more often than not, look a little bet lynch!

This lovely little sequined giraffe print dress from Boohoo.com at just £25, will make a great party dress this Xmas, wear it with a wide waist cinching belt and leggings if your not quite brave enough to show off your pins.

And you've invested in some wet look leggings, but not been quite brave enough to wear them yet, or are just unsure of what to wear with them, this is your perfect item.

French Connection gets a little oh la la with this flirty little party dress!

The sexy rouching will cling to your curves and the very cheeky neckline will have you flashing your cleavage in a strictly come dancing manner, perfect for the party season, but at £130 this baby isn't cheap!

A word of warning though girls, this is a strictly bra less dress, so you need to have a good firm set of knockers to carry it off, otherwise it could get very messy!

Preview - Kate Moss Christmas collection for Topshop

I am truly impressed with Kate's Christmas collection for Topshop, it features fabulously feminine and glamorous pieces, most with an oriental design influence. i love the 'geisha rose print blouse' pictured above and this gorgeously glitzy, sequined maxi dress and at £180 it's one of the more expensive items in the collection, but just think of how wonderful you'll look in it, plus you can still wear it year after year as it's a totally timeless piece!

The collection goes on sale tomorrow (Thursday 29th), so have your fingers at the ready, or elbows if you plan on going to one of the stores, cause these babies are going to go fast!

Wear your heart on your shoulder!

Apologies for adding a little doom and gloom to your day ladies, but if any of you watched the awful BBC documentary on 'Bulgaria's abandoned children' by Kate Blewett that was first shown back in 2007 then you will have surely felt as saddened as i did watching those awful images of the extremely neglected children, i felt compelled to help by donating what i could to the charity http://www.tbact.org/ which has done wonders since 2007 in helping these children, but now there's an even better way that you can help, by purchasing this gorgeous Tabitha bag from http://www.helpinghandbags.co.uk/, set up by Melora Johnson after reading a report in Grazia (Bulgaria's forgotten children), she says that she was so distressed at the images that she saw, that she had to help, so she came up with the idea of designing a bag along with her friend Emma Ganderton, head of accessories design at Jigsaw.

The bag costs £150, but 100% of proceeds go to the Baba programme run by TBACT, you can find out more about the programme on the helping handbags website.

The Tabitha bag comes in Caramel brown, rich aubergine and metallic silver.

Pretty in pink

Well, it's coming up to that time of year ladies, yes party season..whoo hoo!! and i say it's a good idea to start thinking about your party outfits now because in a month or so you'll have to start forking out for Christmas presents and nights out and if you get paid monthly then it's only 2 more paydays before Christmas! but don't panic girls, start your outfit shopping now and you'll be feeling all smug come December when you have all your party looks and cash to spare.

And best of all, this gorgeous very on trend Jewell embellished mini dress in one of this season's go to colours Fuchsia, is only £24.99 at http://www.ginonv.com/ and if your not brave enough to wear a dress this short then wear with leggings underneath.

Celeb style steal (ish) - Cheryl Cole's Military Jacket

I've tried in vain to find a cheaper lookalike of the Balmain jacket worn by Cheryl Cole in her new video, but this was the closest i came ladies, this black tassle Military jacket is £55 from good old Dorothy Perkins, and it's fab, but if only it was red!

But this is a great on trend item to have in your wardrobe this season girls, looks great with dark skinny jeans.

Sheer sexiness at ASOS

This jersey mesh top is so sexy and bang on trend, the structured centre pattern creates curves for those that are lacking and accentuates curves of those who already have them.

And if your old enough to remember, it's also reminiscent of the classic 90's mesh cocktail dresses that were everywhere up until the late 90's and in my opinion should have never gone out of fashion. and it also reminds me a little of the John Paul Gaultier perfume bottles.

£25 from http://www.asos.com/

Vivienne Westwood at ASOS

These Vivienne Westood for Melissa heart sling back shoes are soooo cute!

They actually take me back to my childhood, sitting watching Kylie's 'hand on your heart' video, where she wore different brightly coloured halter dresses with contrasting hearts throughout the video, although she didn't actually wear shoes with hearts on, these are the same as the dresses that she wore.

Check out the video - http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtdSci9uX2U

Available at http://www.asos.com at £88

Top picks from Dorothy Perkins!

I love this on trend pure 80's glam star embellished jumper dress, can be dressed up or dressed down if worn with skinny jeans and flats, and at £35 it's not a bad price either, embellishment will be seen everywhere this ladies (and i really do mean everywhere) so this is a great piece to have for the season and it'll keep you snug and warm as well as looking super stylish!
And this Lace tunic (£35) is just gorgeous and pure class, wear to work with a blazer or cardi or with killer heels on a night out.

Yasmin Le Bon for Wallis Launch party

I was so disappointed that i couldn't attend the YLB for Wallis launch party at the Sanderson a couple of weeks ago, (was holidaying in Jamaica, so can't really complain) as i've been looking forward to the Yasmin range for months now, But the lovely Nicola over at Acardia kindly sent me some pics from the night, Yasmin wore items from her own collection and looked gorgeous. guests included, Amber Le Bon (pictured above), Simon Le Bon, Tania Bryer, Lisa B, Alan Carr Duncan James, Gary Kemp, Lisa Eldridge & Robin Derrick, Tim & Malin Jeffries, Kelly Hoppen, Gerry De Veux , Pat Mc Grath, Sir Philip Green, Chloe Green, Yasmin & Simon Mills.

There are also some great pieces of jewellery in the range so get on down to Wallis or go to http://www.wallis-fashion.com/

Must buy - ASOS one shoulder jumpsuit

I am loving this soft jersey jumpsuit from ASOS, in one of AW09 biggest colour trends, Grey and the hugely trendy one shoulder style, this is so figure flattering and the soft movement of the fabric against your skin should make you feel extremely sexy and comfortable.

This should take you all the way through until next summer!
Glam it up with a few chunky bangles and some statement earrings.

Hands on style at French Connection!

This knit dress is so cheeky, i love it!

I'm actually surprised that this is from French Connection as i would expect to see a design like this from a top designer rather than on the highstreet, but thank goodness it's not designer and priced at a more affordable £75.

I would avoid this if your not happy with your stomach or hips though girls, as it will just draw all attention to them!

Celeb Style Steal - Kate Moss

Get laced like Kate Moss in this almost exact copy of her lace top at ASOS at only £28!
It's also available in this season's hottest colour 'deep purple', which i actually prefer, this colour looks great on anyone with dark features.
Wear with leather leggings or skinny black rocker jeans and ankle boots just as kate would or pretty it up with a little skirt instead.

Bikini's for AA cups to DD+ boobs!

Ok, we're all different shapes and sizes girls, which is why sometimes a generic bikini style just won't do. If your a AA cup your going to want a boob boosting style to give you that extra confidence on the beach, and if your a DD+ cup then your going to want support for those puppies and it's actually quite difficult to find DD+ styles, particularly if your small everywhere else. If you were to go into a highstreet store and try on, say a basic string bikini, you'd have to get a much larger size to accommodate your bust which would leave you with huge baggy bottoms, so you need to go for mix and match styles that you can often find in catalogues and online where you can pick say, a size 14 top and size 10 bottoms or go for a specialist DD+ style and brand like Bravissimo, figleaves are great for stocking DD+ bikinis, and probably the best place online to find DD+ bras too as they have a huge selection to choose from. http://www.figleaves.com
And for those of you smaller girls that want a boost, (i can sympathise as i was an A cup for years before they suddenly grew when i turned 19 and this was before gel bras or chicken fillets existed, so i used to stuff shoulder pads down my bra!) i have found a fantastic website that specialises in gel filled bikini's and bras for smaller busts, http://www.maxcleavage.com the sizes start from 30AA (like the one pictured far left), but their gel bras also go up to a size 38DD for those of you bigger busted girls that like the look and feel of gel bras, personally prefer these even though i'm a 32DD as they give a fantastic shape under clothes and give great support.

Tip - It's really important to get your boobs properly measured at least once a year as our body's change all the time due to weight gain/loss, hormones, and age, and according to surveys, a whopping 80% of women are wearing the wrong the bra size!

80's chic at Lipsy

Well, ladies 80's fashion is well and truly back to haunt us all, from shoulder pads and leggings to slouchy off the shoulder tee's (think flash dance) and bright neon colours. But i'm actually quite pleased about it, most people say that the 80's was the era that style forgot, but i think it was fun and feel good fashion, even if it wasn't the most flattering, and i always wished that i had been a teenager in the 80's (I was a teenager in the grungy 90's) as it just seemed like such a fun time where you could experiment with all kinds of crazy colours, styles and shapes, tacky plastic jewellery and blue eye shadow, (i am a classy chick really!), so anyway, i'm thrilled that i get my chance to don the 80's trends this season..minus the blue eyeshadow of course.

The good news though, is that this time it's a bit more classy so much easier to pull it off, i love the whole jumpsuit thing that's going on at the moment, and this one from Lipsy is fab, glam it up with super heels, a classy clutch and lots of bling. and this feather print one shoulder tunic also from Lipsy is just pure 80's glamour, wear it with leggings for a really comfy look.

Don't forget to Beth Ditto giveaway below, a winner will be picked on Friday!

Leather & Sequins at Wallis AW09 preview

Wallis has become more and more trendy over the last couple of years, but the thing i really like about it, is that it's grown up trendy with a really sophisticated feel. The AW09 collection features lots of leathers, like this really classy leather dress (yes i did just say classy and leather dress in the same sentence), and lots of bling in the form of sequined tops, jackets, leggings and dresses, like this gorgeous silver slinky dress in the pic above.

Dorothy Perkins AW09 preview

I attended the Arcadia press day on Wed which is a preview of the AW09 and Christmas collections from Topshop, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Evans and Wallis, i will review these all separately, but first up is Dorothy Perkins, which is fast becoming one of my top high street stores, due to it's trendy shake up of late.

The 80's theme was seen all throughout in the form of the colours, fabrics, style and shapes of clothes and even making it's way down to the accessories. The exaggerated shoulder trend is key for AW09 and Dorothy Perkins have gently introduced this in the form of slightly padded shoulder dresses (see in centre pic above), Sequins were seen everywhere from jackets and over sized t-shirts to clutch bags which will be lovely for the party season ahead. There is also a very Micheal Jackson like red leather jacket which gives a nod to the mid 80's.

My favourite pieces are this zebra print sheer panel dress and the over sized shoulder embellished jumper which is pure 80's glamour.

Key colours are red, gold, silver, purple and cobalt blue.

Pretty Florals at Debenhams

I admit to being a bit of a fashion snob when it comes to Debenhams, as i tend to think of it as a bit middle aged and not very trendy, but after recently admiring a couple of my friends tops and being shocked that they were in fact from Debenhams, i thought i'd take a look and was really surprised to come across these gorgeously on trend floral dresses by Red Herring, and even more surprised with the price's, the green dress is £35, the cutesy white one is just £30 and the lovely black oriental print dress is £45!

Perfect for summer parties (if summer actually returns)?

Fabulous retro tee's at Topshop

This is one for all of you 80's children/teenagers, these 'Tea and Cake' for Topshop tee's are soooo cool, and are only £20 each, i love the bright red Knight Rider one with 'the Hoff' on the front and these lovely black and white Aha one is a classic!

Perfect neutrals at Topshop

As i'm sure you are all aware, nude and neutral shades are so in right now, but the great thing about this is that it's a shade that will never go out of fashion so whatever you buy now will last you for years, plus nudes always look really classy and chic which is why i recommend investing in these nudes now whilst they are all over the highstreet. These are my top picks from Topshop at the moment...
This lovely romantic vintage looking lace bolero (£38) is so lovely and is great if your boobs are on the small side as it will give the illusion of bigger boobs, and on the other side f the spectrum, this is one to avoid if you have large boobs (anything over a DD cup) as it will just make you look top heavy. and the same goes for the sequin detail top as if you have large boobs it will either make you look as though you have one large sausage boob which is never a good look or you'll end up with spillage at the sides!
But the last one is perfect for all and would make a lovely work top whilst still being really feminine and it would also make a great bar top worn with jeans.
